High Sierra Feast

Shimmering snow patch behind blue sky.

Red rock bleeding green sheets and purple.
Jagged peak topped powdery, fading into rounded rusty summit.
Faces and features as far as the eye can see.
Around the bend! Eyes lie on emerald green pools fed by a Sapphire lake, lush, tucked in by green meadows.
A carpet folds out in front.
Yellow carpet speckled with blazing pink. Then blue carpet making way for purple.
Scarlet Gilia, Mountain Penstemon, canvas of Indian Paintbrush.
Popping Lupine! Make way for the narrow path!
Intimidating pass looms ahead, not so distant.
Polished granite kissed by its glacial past.
Sticky sap of the dwarfed needle pine pleases the nose.
Shhh! the soft voice. Clicking through groves of Quaking Aspen-
yet another crystal-laid alpine lake!
Razor ridge line, slicing bright blue sky.

White cirque carved through black banded array.
Trickling stream as the ice bowl retreats.
Sinking sun pours golden caps on the rocky Teets, Minarets, and high San Joaquin.
Evening star invites the rest, the universe lays out as a sheet.
The bright band of billions ushers in my peaceful sleep.
And I wake up to find, His glory divine.
Grateful soul, fully satisified by a High Sierra Feast.
